students have lives...?

So... I've been invited to serve on the "Student Life and Outreach Committee". That's the way they phrase it, you know... "We would like to INVITE you to serve on such and such committee." I'm not sure an answer of "no" is really an option. Nonetheless, I've tried to think of a way to respond to the Dean to say, politely... "You know... I think my expertise would really be put to better use on another committee... given that I really don't give a rat's ass about students OR their lives." But I can't help but feel that wouldn't come off well. So I guess I'm stuck.
